Well, 2008 is officially upon us. Last night I was flipping channels on the tv, and every commercial was promoting new years resolutions. Weight loss, gyms and you guessed it, home organizing. While I'm not one for making resolutions Jan 1st, I do believe the new year is a good time to see what worked for you in the past year, and what you'd like to accomplish in the new one.
Organizing your home is a goal that is definately attainable, but it's not going to happen over night. Take this time of year to truely think about what is important to you and your family. Would easy meal prep, planning and family dinners be in your goal? How about a finished rec room in your basement? Would you like to use your garage to work on your car or projects? Whatever your goals are for your home, write them down. Create a list of areas in your home that you would like to organize. Break each area into manageable tasks. When you complete one task, cross it off your list. You'd be amazed at how good it feels to cross items off your to do list.
If you want to have more time to spend with your family, and less time cleaning up after them, get organized. If you want to spend less time looking for your keys and more time out doing what you need to do, get organized. If you want to have clean laundry, and easy to find clothing in your closet, get organized.
If you want help, contact a professional organizer. They are trained to help you with finding better ways to use your space, and help you get the job done faster and show you how to keep it up after they leave. Professional organizers also keep you motivated, and help you stay on track.
The new year brings a sense of freshness, and a new start. Make 2008 the year that you take back your space, and get organized!
